General Information Obligations under the Electrical Equipment Act

a) Cooperation with logistics service providers

Due to the distribution of electrical and electronic equipment, we are obliged to inform you of the following:

All electrical/electronic devices that can be used in private households are marked with the symbol of the crossed-out wheeled waste bin shown below.

battery return

The symbol "crossed-out garbage can" means that electrical and electronic devices must not be disposed of with household waste. Instead, old electrical devices must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste. Old batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed in the old device, as well as lamps that can be removed from the old device without causing damage, must be separated from the old device in a non-destructive manner before handing them in at a collection point. You are responsible for ensuring that personal data is deleted.
According to Section 17 Paragraphs 1 and 2 of the ElektroG, we are obliged to take back old electrical/electronic equipment in accordance with the following provisions and implement this obligation as follows:

  1. When a new electrical or electronic device is handed over to an end user, we will take back an old device of the same type that is essentially functionally identical from the end user at the place of handover or in the immediate vicinity free of charge. The place of handover is also the private household, provided that the handover takes place there by delivery. The free collection is limited to electrical and electronic devices from categories 1 (heat exchangers), category 2 (screens, monitors and devices that have screens with a surface area of more than 100 cm²) and category 4 (devices where at least one of the external dimensions is more than 50 centimeters). For electrical and electronic devices in categories 3 (lamps), 5 (small devices) and 6 (small IT and telecommunications devices), we guarantee the return through suitable return options within a reasonable distance. The goods will then be picked up from your home by DPD or GO!Express, depending on the goods. You can find an overview of which devices fall into the individual categories here: https://www.stiftung-ear.de/de/themen/elektrog/herstellerbevollmaechtigte/geraetezuordnung
  2. At your request, we will also take back old devices that are no larger than 25 centimeters in any external dimension through suitable return options provided by DPD; the return is not tied to the purchase of an electrical or electronic device and is limited to three old devices per device type.
  3. When returning the old device, please ensure that it is packaged properly for shipping so that it is not broken as far as possible and mechanical compaction or breakage can be ruled out. Old devices may be refused if there is a risk to people's health and safety due to contamination.
In addition, private households can also hand in their old electrical appliances free of charge at one of the municipal collection points. You can find an online directory of collection and return points in your area here: https://www.ear-system.de/ear-verzeichnis/sammel-und-ruecknahmestellen

b) Addition to batteries/accumulators (rechargeable batteries)

Every consumer is legally obliged to return used batteries.

Pb = Battery contains more than 0,004 percent lead
Cd = Battery contains more than 0,002 percent cadmium
Hg = Battery contains more than 0,0005 percent mercury

Old batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed in the old device must be separated from the old device before being handed over to the logistics service provider. After use, they can be returned free of charge to a public collection point or to a place where batteries and accumulators are sold. You can also return your batteries and accumulators, which we have or have had in our range as new batteries/accumulators, to us free of charge in normal household quantities.
