Holland: DIY conversion meets European approval

When a Dutchman plays a classic Vespa He modifies the V50 himself and makes it legal in Europe. Daniel De Graaf from Utrecht has a mission: to revive his classical Vespa The 1970 Piaggio V50 was to be converted to electric power. And not just driven – it was to be officially registered. In the Netherlands. A fully legal, registered e-Vespa in the Netherlands with a vintage car license plate.

The dream: Classics + Future

Daniel wanted his Vespa Not just put it in the garage. The machine should run, it should be quiet, it should be modernized – without losing its soul. The prosimo kit was the answer. But: Daniel is a craftsman and tinkerer. The prosimo documentation with videos and written instructions gave him peace of mind.

The Kit: 100s – Concealed, elegant, powerful

Daniel chose the prosimo Kit 100 – more power than the SF 50, but still elegant in its classic design.

  • Wheel hub motor in the swingarm – invisible from the outside
  • Controller hidden under the seat
  • Battery directly next to the controller – saving space
  • Portable charger – take along for longer trips
  • Miniaturized capacity indicator

Daniel was particularly proud of one solution: He hid the ride mode display behind the headlight – thus preserving the classic look.

The renovation: DIY, well thought out

August 2025 – January 2026: Daniel built it himself. Engine out, new swingarm in, new wiring harness, control unit configured. Step by step. Special features:

  • Independent engineering: Daniel optimized the cable routing and tested different positions for the controls.
  • Restoration in the project: New brake system (BGM Competition), new exhaust, new lighting
  • Patience with details: Everything had to fit, everything had to look good.

The documentation and videos from prosimo provided guidance. Support was available for any remaining questions – but Daniel solved many things independently.
